The fire in the Plam court Hotel was just waiting to happen.
The receivers had left the empty hotel full of furnishings and bedding. The weather has been extremely cold recently so who can blame anyone that is homeless from making use of it? It would of course still be cold inside so the natural thing to do would be to light a fire – say no more!
Seems that this is becoming a regular thing these days, especially with the recession, Hotels go out of business, they get left empty for years. Squatters move in and before you know it the place gets burnt to the ground.

Then there was the Royal Pier Hotel in Weston Super Mare – again derelict and empty. Had a fire in June 2009 Royal Pier Hotel Fire
It was just left after the fire – a real eyesore! So again a year later in June 2010 it was set fire to again Royal Pier Hotel Fire no2 – Finally they had to pull it down.
This could happen again to the Palm Court if it is just left – Pull it down NOW!
