The Plam Court Hotel had already been given planning permission for demolition before the fire last Saturday. But a new buyer has to have planning permission for the new building before the old one can be knocked down!
Travelodge is still interested in the site but has not put in a bid yet.
A council spokesperson has said: “There is no immediate need to demolish unless the structure significantly deteriorates to a condition that will directly affect public safety. The timescale is indeterminate.”
So it looks like we are stuck with this eyesore for even longer! – this council really know how to put people of coming to Torbay
